Fast Felt® Tabs Can Be Completely Submerged/Boiled
in 450° F Hot Asphalt and Keep Needed Rupture Strength
If, (as shown in "Hot Mop - Part I"), mopping 475° F to 500° F hot asphalt onto the Fast Felt® Tabs was not enough torture for you to see, how about completely submerging and boiling the Fast Felt® Tabs in a 450° F hot asphalt kettle?
After both of the above described tests, and after allowing the Fast Felt® underlayment samples to return to normal temperatures, the Fast Felt® Tabs maintained rupture (nail pull-through) strengths materially greater than dry ASTM D226, Type II asphalt saturated felt and tin caps.
Tests by an independent laboratory, certified by Miami-Dade BCCO, included completely submerging samples of Fast Felt® underlayment in a 450° F kettle of hot asphalt, hanging the hot samples up to dry on a "laundry line" and then performing nail pull-through rupture tests on each sample.
